TWO members of 229 (Farnham) Air Cadets, along with a member of staff, have conquered the 100th Nijmegen International Marches, known as The Walk of the World.
As part of two teams of air cadets from across Surrey, sergeant Katie Smith and corporal Alex Farrant, along with 45,000 other marchers have just completed the 100th 160km International Marches in Holland, in some of the worst weather conditions in 35 years, with temperatures as high as 38 degrees and 85 per cent humidity.
The teams, which included 229 (Farnham) Air Cadets staff member Barry Poulter, have raised more than £11,000 for Walking with the Wounded, a charity for wounded service personnel.
Alongside members of the regular services these cadets have shown determination way beyond their years, as a regular member of the Royal Air Force was heard to say “they are a credit to both the Air Cadet Corps and this country”.
