BORDON charity Hospice Services at Home TLC (Tending, Listening, Comforting) has been nominated as the worshipful master’s charity of the year at Bordon’s Cherry Tree Masonic Lodge.

The charity’s Dan Read and Jenny Croucher met the Worshipful Master John Bradstreet, and wardens and members of Cherry Tree, and were presented with a cheque for £1,500.

The presentation was made at the Bordon Masonic Centre, on the High Street, on October 8, and the money will allow TLC to train and support a befriender for a year, with the administrative costs.

The donation will allow a befriender to provide more than 160 hours of support - a lifeline for someone in need. TLC recruits volunteers to befriend people with life-limiting conditions like cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and MS, and stroke survivors.

People who are isolated, or cared for by a family carer, receive up to three hours of a volunteer’s time weekly for a chat and respite.
