Newport IoW 0, Aldershot Tn 2 (Aldershot win 4-0 on agg). Terry Brown was unwilling to take the credit for Aldershot's victory on the Isle of Wight on Tuesday – a result that secures Aldershot a dream visit to Southampton's St Mary's Stadium in the final on Wednesday, May 1.
"It was a very professional job, but the hard work had already been done by George Borg and Stuart Cash," said Brown. "We kept our discipline and it was good to see the defence looking so solid."
In the final, Aldershot will meet Havant & Waterlooville, the Dr Martens League Premier Division high-fliers, who were 3-2 aggregate winners over Gosport Borough in the other semi-final.
Aldershot were always on course for victory after Jason Chewins had given them the lead with a goal timed at 21 seconds. Lee Protheroe provided the cross and Chewins came storming in to score with an unstoppable header.
Colin Matthews, Newport's giant goalkeeper, performed miracles to keep Aldershot at bay, but, nine minutes into the second half, Adam Parker scored to wrap up the tie.
