The mayor started off at the Hale Sure Start centre where he was treated to a tour of the facilities. This was followed by a visit to the brand new retirement development Hawthorn Lodge where he was invited to draw numbers in the charity raffle.
From Hawthorn Lodge, the mayor visited the Farnham Herald where he enjoyed home-made biscuits and cakes – Remington Harrow was next on the list.
The mayor chatted to the stylists and encouraged the customers to enjoy some cake while having their hair styled. The town centre coffee mornings concluded with a visit to Farnham Natural Therapy.
Mr Ward’s coffee morning marathon ended with a visit to Melody Care at Coxbridge Business Park and Right at Home in The Sands.
Speaking afterwards, he said: “I don’t think I have ever eaten so much cake for charity.
“It was marvellous to be able to visit so many Farnham businesses and organisations. I met some wonderful people and it was great to see everybody having lots of fun while raising money for a very good cause.”
So far, more than £2.2million has been raised for Macmillan by coffee mornings held across the UK.
