BAND?members will be blowing their own trumpets after a £750 cash injection from Farnham Town Council.

The Alder Valley Brass Band, which has members from Alton and Bordon, received the cash from Farnham mayor John Ward, who handed over a cheque to band trustees Claire Ward and Roy Hancock.

The grant was awarded to the band, which also attracts musicians from Farnham, to buy a new bass drum.

Alder Valley Brass, whose members come from all over Surrey and Hampshire, have recently moved to a new base in Farnham at All Hallows School and regularly play in and around the town.

The band are looking for new players, particularly cornet and percussion players. Anyone interested should e-mail [email protected].
