RAYMOND Roberts, the last-surviving member of the Bletchley Park code breakers – who did so much to shorten the Second World War – has finally had has military service recognised in the Queen's New Years Honour List.

Captain Raymond 'Jerry' Roberts, 92, who lives in Liphook, was made an MBE at the weekend – more than 60 years after his top-secret work helped crack the German war machine's communications system.

He received the honour for services at the decryption centre and to code breaking.
