IT was "the proudest day which I'll remember for the rest of my life", according to a well-known Petersfield street cleaner after he was honoured by the the Queen on Wednesday when she awarded him the MBE.

The day is also set to be the "greatest birthday present ever" for Syd Wiltshire, who celebrates his 60th birthday on April 26 and who has been keeping the streets of Petersfield clean for the past 40 years.
