PLAYERS from the Bourne Blades have been acknowledged through a special medal ceremony for their determination and hard work throughout the season.
The main purpose of ‘Medals Day’ is to come together as an entire club, players and parents, to celebrate the season just gone.
It’s an opportunity to give praise to every players contribution, pick out some team highlights and award some special trophies to stand out players.
“My favourite being the ‘Player’s Player of the Year’ for each team, as its voted by the kids. The cherry on the cake, so to speak, is the Club Player award,” said Bill Anthony, club chairman.
“All age groups from Under 7 attended excepting the Under 14s for whom this clashed with their DofE expeditions, and Under 16s who are unto their necks in GCSE work.
“We also laid on a barbecue, some fun stalls and a bouncy castle, and for the first time, incorporated a min- intra age group tournament. Fortunately for us, the sun shone too.”
The Bourne Blades runs teams from U7 to U16, plus senior, veteran and casual teams. New players from all age groups in the GU9/10 post codes welcome, get in touch via the club’s website, www.bourneblades.football.
