MEDSTEAD has been selected by Hampshire County Council as one of 10 residential locations across the county to trial a 20mph speed limit.

It is a real coup for Medstead, chosen as the East Hampshire pilot in the Residential 20 project, developed to take advantage of the Department for Transport's relaxations to signing requirements associated with 20mph limits.

The village has been campaigning for years to have a 20mph speed restriction and when the Parish Plan was adopted in July 2008 speeding traffic was a key issue.
