ST Peter's School in Wrecclesham took a big step in the cause of saving lives on Monday by becoming the first state school in Surrey to embark on the British Heart Foundation's 'Heartstart' programme.

The scheme teaches children as young as eight what to do in an emergency, and includes teaching essential lifesaving skills such as cardio pulmonary resuscitation – otherwise known as CPR.
