WEYDON pupils enjoyed a memorable geography field trip to Iceland earlier this month.
Seventy-four students and seven staff set off from Gatwick on April 7, and their first stop was to look at the bridge between two continents where the earth’s tectonic plates are pulling apart.
They also visited a geothermal power plant, geysers, glaciers and the Eyjafjallajokul volcano and an all-you-can-eat Pizza Buffet, where one of the boys ate a record 22 slices, before spending a final day exploring the nation’s capital, Reykjavik.
Debi Henderson, curriculum area leader for geography, said: “This is such an amazing trip for the students who have high expectations when they arrive.
“They were astounded by many of the sights they witnessed. I am very proud of how engaged they were with the experiences and we had a marvellous time.”
