Haslemere blazed a trail into the third round of the National Junior Cup by comfortably beating local rivals Midhurst.
The home team were no doubt disappointed by the margin of victory as 'Mere ran away with the cup-tie in the last quarter.
Haslemere welcomed back prop Jason Woodger. Alongside brother Darren, he provided much-needed strength in the scrum, so badly missed in the recent league outing.
The visitors opened the scoring with a Jim Cruikshank penalty, the no 10 showing accomplishment in a position that 'Mere have recently been struggling with.
Second row Digby Daly, enjoying a second flush of youth, maintained his recent good form, barging his way over from 10 metres for the opening try.
Two further tries, one well-worked down the line for winger Woods to score in the corner, and the other a Dave Reeves try, gave 'Mere an early 20-point cushion.
But the Hampshire 2 side showed spirit and refused to fold, replying with a converted try to make the score 20-7 at half-time.
After the break, tries from winger Houghton, a splendid individual effort from inside his own half, and further scores from winger Woods, centre Joff Smith and captain Geoff Mills, plus a late Woods penalty, gave the visitors an emphatic lead.
The spirit in which both teams played the game was highly commendable and the traditional Boxing Day match between these local rivals will be a chance for Midhurst to redress the balance.
