HEAVY rain is forecast in Surrey and Hampshire on Friday evening, with the potential for localised flooding and disruption to travel.

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning valid from 5pm tonight to 8am Saturday morning.

Spells of heavy rain are expected to develop across southern parts of England during Friday evening, persisting overnight before clearing away to the south east during Saturday morning.

Around 5mm to 15mm of rain is expected to fall for many areas, with 40mm possible over high ground.
