MILL Chase Community School has risen up the countyÕs performance league tables again this year, jumping ten places to 64th from a total of 93 schools and colleges.
The improvement has impressed headteacher Tony Philpott, who told The Herald he was Òvery pleased with the pupilsÕ achievementÓ.
The Hampshire league table, which does not include schools and colleges in Southampton and Portsmouth, shows that 48 per cent of Mill Chase pupils sitting GCSEs in the summer achieved five or more A* to C grades.
This was a six per cent increase on last yearÕs results, which ranked the school 74th in the countyÕs table.
Mr Philpott said: ÒThe level of achievement means that the school is now more or less on the national average, which is great.Ó
The national average for pupils getting five or more A* to C grades is currently 50 per cent.
Bohunt School at Liphook was 17th in this yearÕs table, with 68 per cent of pupils getting five or more A* to C grades, which was an increase from 60 per cent last year.
County education officer Andrew Seber said: ÒTodayÕs GCSE performance tables recognise the excellent achievements at schools in Hampshire, with the average percentage of pupils achieving five or more A* to C grades exceeding national standards.
ÒThe results reflect the hard work and commitment put in by pupils and teachers as well as those who support them.
ÒWe will be aiming to maintain and improve these good standards during the current academic year, ensuring that all young people are given opportunities to work to the best of their abilities.Ó
