FOR a second year running two pupils from Mill Chase Academy, in Bordon, have had the honour of shaking hands with the new Lord Mayor of London.
Head girl Ione Upfold and head boy Adam Bennett, both in year 11, were outside the Courts of Justice to greet the Lord Mayor as he came out to take his place at the Lord Mayor’s Show on Saturday morning, November 12. Only two other people, the Dean of Westminster and the Lord Chief Justice, are allowed to shake hands with the Lord Mayor. Mill Chase’s business manager Richard Edwards, who is a Liveryman, also took part in the Lord Mayor’s Show.
It was Michael Grant - chairman of the Mill Chase governors and who, as a Pikeman, walked alongside the coach during the procession - who asked if Mill Chase students could be allowed to meet the Lord Mayor.
