Plans for a millennium sculpture in Petersfield have been dashed with the news this week that Southern arts has refused to stump up any cash.

A furious head of the town's millennium celebration group, John Holt, has lashed out at the group, claiming it led the artist to believe there would be a grant before pulling the rug out from under him.
