HASLEMERE Minor Injuries Unit closed for a few hours this morning (March 2) for a deep clean as ‘a precautionary measure’.

The unit reopened in the afternoon and the action was taken due to a patient mentioning a visit to an area affected with coronavirus.

The incident was not connected to the closure of Haslemere Health Centre due to a patient being diagnosed with coronavirus on February 28.

A Royal Surrey Hospital spokesperson said: “The minor injuries unit was closed for a few hours in the morning but was open all afternoon.

“It was only the unit, Haslemere Hospital was not affected.

“Someone came in for an appointment who was not symptomatic but mentioned on leaving having travelled to an infected area.

“It was not connected to the February 28 Haslemere Health Centre diagnosis.”
