This essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.
Following discussions with Surrey County Council, the project will start on Monday, November 28, and last approximately six months.
Starting just after the junction with Steepways, contractors will be moving in 60-m to 100-m sections along a 1.7 km stretch of Churt Road towards the village centre on the left-hand side.
To ensure everyone’s safety all work, which will take place six days a week, from 8am to 5pm, will be carried out under temporary two-way and three-way lights at junctions.
The traffic lights will be manually controlled between 7am and 9.30am and 3pm and 7pm.
A spokeswomen for SGN said: “We appreciate that roadworks can be frustrating, however the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years.
“This means once the work has been completed, local homes and businesses will enjoy the benefits of a continued safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.”
