POLICING of the Bordon area will soon be increased, thanks to the addition of two new beat officers.

Next Monday Pc Tony Bass will start his new role as LindfordÕs beat officer. And on August 22, Pc Steve Pratley will take on the duties of Bordon town centreÕs beat officer.

Pc Bass, formerly a Grayshott beat officer, is currently a dog handler, but decided to return to the role of village policing.

Whitehill Inspector Gerry Thorne told The Herald that his arrival at the station is good news for the area, especially when it will be coupled with the additional beat officer for Bordon.

He said: ÒSteve Pratley is already at the station but he is doing other roles and will become beat officer for Bordon on August 22.

ÒFor some time now we have been increasing the forceÕs strength. We have now almost achieved our maximum level of staff.

ÒWe also have a lot of young recruits about to start. Our resources are on the up.Ó

At MondayÕs meeting of Lindford Parish Council the news the the village would again have a beat officer was well received.

Eric Birkett said: ÒIt is good news for all of the law abiding members of Lindford.

ÒPc Tony Bass has a lot of experience and will be happy to walk around the village and help people.

ÒHe and Headley and GrayshottÕs beat officers will be working together, which will make sure that we are well covered.Ó

The parish council agreed to invite Pc Bass to a future council meeting once he has settled into his new role.
