TRAFFIC delays are expected on the A325 through Wrecclesham until Tuesday next week (January 28) because of emergency repairs to a leaking water pipe.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place outside 5 The Street, opposite Thorne Leggett funeral directors, for the duration of the works by South East Water.

Surrey County Council has requested manual operation of the traffic lights between 7am and 7pm daily "to minimise disruption as much as possible".

It comes just a week after further emergency works on the A325, this time to fix a faulty underground electricity network, brought traffic to a "standstill" through Wrecclesham.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks also put temporary traffic lights in place at the junction of Riverdale and Wrecclesham Road, between January 13 and 17.

It prompted motorists, some of whom reported delays of up to 30 minutes on the A325, to bemoan the traffic “chaos” through the village.
