EIGHT beds look set to be axed at Alton Community Hospital as part of a cost-cutting exercise to claw back the £10 million deficit in health authority coffers.
The beds, which are currently used for the treatment of elderly, mentally infirm (EMI) patients could be relocated at Basingstoke if proposals by the North and Mid Hampshire Health Authority are accepted.
