EXTRA police patrols will go out on the beat in Headley Down after Whitehill police received extra cash from the Home Office under the Rural Policing Initiative.
The extra funding will pay for police over-time so that officers can increase their presence on the Heatherlands Estate and its surrounding area which is a notorious black spot for nuisance crimes and vandalism.
Whitehill Inspector Gerry Thorne explained: "There is a common perception among people in rural communities that rural areas to not receive the same level of policing that the bigger cities do.
"This Rural Policing Initiative hopes to combat that perception and that is what we are also trying to do."
The extra patrols will be working to combat criminal damage and car crime as well as reassure local residents that the police are doing all that they can.
