HAMPSHIRE County Council has given notice that the B3006 Selborne Road is to be closed for up to six months for carriageway and footway resurfacing. Motorists have been given an assurance that it will not close until the B3004 Alton to Bordon road has reopened. While the closure period for the B3006 was due to start yesterday, the road is currently being used as an unofficial diversion route for motorists unable to use the B3004, which is closed to facilitate roadworks at East Worldham. This road is expected to reopen on or before Friday, February 9. The B3006 Alton to Selborne road will then be closed to facilitate road and footpath works along the stretch of road between Goslings Croft and Ketchers Field. The road will be closed for up to six months, or until completion of the works. Official diversion routes will take those travelling from the southern point of closure (Ketchers Field) south-east along the B3006 to its junction with the A3 then north-east along the A3 to join the A325; north along the A325 to pick up the B3004 through Kingsley to Alton, and via Mill Lane to pick up the A31. Drivers travelling from the northern end of the village at Goslings Croft will take the B3006 into Alton to pick up the A31. Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises and businesses during the works.
