PAM Stevens has been unanimously co-opted as a New Alresford Town Trust (NATT) trustee for another five years.
She is responsible for market activities, minibus operations and clerking for the town trust.
Pam joined the trust in April 2008 shortly after the death of her husband, Brian, who had been unwell for a number of years. Devoting her spare time to the trust gave her a positive way of dealing with her new circumstances.
She was initially confronted with the need to buy a new minibus, which was completed in October 2008. This minibus is still on the road having done some 104,000 miles. Also, she was responsible for the evaluation of a new automatic Mercedes minibus, and its purchase in May 2017, thus doubling the fleet.
Fellow trustees said that she had coped “admirably” with the town trust’s additional clerical work.
The market stalls have increased since 2008 and there are currently between 12 and 16 stalls during the summer months. With Pam’s help, the trust has re-introduced a successful French market, which will continue to be held on Easter Saturday.
Since August 2010, Pam has also been the NATT clerk, responsible for banking, secretarial and administration work. All in all, Pam has committed herself for the last 10 years to benefitting the trust, and has become affectionately known as ‘Mrs NATT’.
In 2010-11, she was awarded the Mayor’s Award for Service to the Community, two years later she was awarded the Silver Salver on behalf of the minibus drivers by Alresford Society, and in 2017 she was awarded a Certificate of Merit by Alresford Society for her continued work in the town.
NATT chairman Robin Atkins said Pam had played a “vital role” in the Trust’s success over the last 10 years.
