MORE than 100 people crossed the threshold of the Lewis Private Motor Museum in Churt on Saturday night to attend a night of vintage cars and revelry.

The event was in aid of the charity, Mane Chance Sanctuary, and the evening was sponsored by Hiscox & Blackmore Borley.

Hosted by Robert and Tanya Lewis along with actress Jenny Seagrove, founder of the charity, the guests were treated to a breathtaking private viewing of the Lewis family’s collection of vintage cars followed by a dinner cooked by Jane Carnell from Really Hungry and served by the sanctuary volunteers.

Dinner was followed by cabaret entertainment provided by Guildford Fringe Theatre Company and a live auction which saw Robert and Jenny cajole plenty of money out of the pockets of the visitors.

The evening finished with a sweep for a magnum of Champagne provided by bar suppliers, Barrel & Cask.

The evening, apart from being fun, was a great success with the charity raising in excess of £20,000 towards the large day-to day-running costs of the sanctuary. The next big fundraiser will be a Golf Classic at Puttenham Golf Club on Tuesday, May 17.

Mane Chance Sanctuary is a registered charity, which rescues, rehabilitates and provides sanctuary for abandoned and abused horses, giving them a life of peace and trust at their 47-acre site.

The charity also welcomes special needs youngsters, vulnerable young adults and disadvantaged children to work with them at the sanctuary and engage in supervised interaction with some of the horses, often with wonderful results.
