MP RANIL Jayawardena has shown his support for parliamentary campaign Women 2 Win.

The North East Hampshire MP is part of the campaign in which a broad cross-section of men and women in the Conservative Party have come together, in recognition that their party needs to be more representative of the British people.

Women2Win was founded in 2005 by Baroness Jenkin of Kennington and Prime Minister Theresa May, with the mission to ensure the Conservative Party fairly represents women at all levels of politics.

In the latest campaign video, where Ranil features with his daughter Daisy, he says: “I believe that it’s vitally important that we ensure equality of opportunity.

“I would be absolutely appalled to think that my daughter would have any less opportunity than my perhaps future sons.”

New PM Theresa said also offered her thoughts in the video. “As a founder of Women to Win, I have campaigned over the years to get more women conservative Members of Parliament and successfully too.

“I have always said that if you have a good diversity of people in a group then you get better decisions. I think it is hugely important that young girls are able to see women in Parliament.

“And I hope that young women and girls will look at the women in Parliament and say that’s something I want I want to do.”
