FOLLOWING a 'yes' vote in his referendum on pedestrianisation in June, MP Jeremy Hunt met last Friday with Surrey County Council leader David Hodge and councillor Pat Frost in order to press ahead with establishing a viable pedestrian-friendly plan for Farnham. After the meeting, the councillors joined the MP for South West Surrey and Secretary of State for Health in a 'walkabout visit' to the town centre in order to fully appraise what type of plan might be suitable for development. Mr Hunt said: "Collaborating with the council at this early stage is imperative in establishing an affordable and workable scheme as so much of the work needed within the town centre will be overseen by the authority both financially and practically. "We are already engaged in extremely positive discussion regarding what might be a suitable plan and I look forward to our continuing discussions." For full story, see this week's Farnham Herald.
