EAST Hampshire MP Damian Hinds and district councillor Angela Glass helped Colonel Jimmy Jack to start the Poppy Appeal for the Royal British Legion in the foyer at Sainsbury’s in Liphook.

Mr Hinds said: “I was delighted to join in the launch of this year’s Poppy Appeal along with Jimmy Jack and his amazing team of volunteers.

"Wearing a poppy is such a simple yet powerful way to demonstrate our support for the Armed Services community and the work of the British Legion and I hope people will be as generous as ever in their donations.”

A range of merchandise is on sale at Sainsbury’s store and customers can also make a donation by rounding up their bill at any of the tills.

This year’s Remembrance service will be held on Sunday at St Mary’s Church in Bramshott, starting at 10.30am, where wreaths will be laid in honour of those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom.

Mr Hinds’ next public meeting is at the Millennium Centre in Canada Way, Liphook, on Friday, November 20, starting at 7.30pm.
