THIS week, local MP Jeremy Hunt condemned the Guildford and Waverley Primary Care Trust's continued attempt to cut services at Haslemere and Milford hospitals. He has now called on the PCT to postpone its "farcical consultation" over the five options to reform services, at least until after the reorganisation of Surrey PCTs, later this year. He claims that there is almost 100 per cent backing for an option six, which would keep all the beds at both Haslemere and Cranleigh hospitals and would not allow Milford Hospital to close. The sixth option is part of the cross-community group's consultation which has been running in tandem with the five from the PCT. He now plans to send the alternative version to 40,000 homes in the area to allow residents to vote on it. "Opposition to the PCTs proposals is clear, united and strong. I want everybody who has not yet handed in their cross-community group consultation form to do so now. With just a few weeks left before the PCT takes its decision, now is the time for our voices to be heard," said Mr Hunt.
