AN NHS worker faced her fear of heights by taking part in a skydive to raise thousands of pounds for the Alzheimer’s Society, in honour of her mum and staff at the care home where she is a resident.

Marenna Wild, who works for The Witley and Milford Medical Partnership, completed the skydive at Netheravon Airfield in Wiltshire, after being inspired by her mother’s battle with dementia and the staff who care for her at Surrey Heights Care Home in Witley.

The 52-year-old smashed her initial £600 target by raising a total of £2,000, thanks to donations from colleagues and patients at the GP surgery where she works, friends and even her old maths teacher.

CHD Living, which operates Surrey Heights, added nearly £400 to round up the total.

She said: “The support I’ve received from everyone has been overwhelming.

“It was the most incredible thing I’ve ever done.”
