ALTON Town Council's policy and resources committee has already agreed in principle to support a £1m Heritage Lottery bid by the Alton Museums Partnership Advisory Group toward the redevelopment and refurbishment of the Curtis Museum.

Now it is being asked, along with East Hampshire District Council and Hampshire County Council, to "put its money where its mouth is" and be prepared to stump up £10,000 of tax payers money to further support the bid.

The money would not be needed until 2014/15, and would then be spread over two to three years, but agreement to provide financial support is viewed as critical to the advisory group's quest.
