ORGANISERS of the ever-popular Music in the Park event presented Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice with a cheque for £85,000.

The money was raised over the weekend of Saturday, July 8, and Sunday, July 9, when tribute acts for music icons Elton John, Tina Turner and Rod Stewart, along with Soul Legends took to the stage at the King George V Playing Fields in Farnborough, drawing crowds of more than 7,000 people.

The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Farnborough, has taken place every other year since 2001, and raises a huge amount of money for Phyllis Tuckwell

“We would like to thank the Music in the Park committee for donating this huge sum of money to Phyllis Tuckwell, and for their unwavering dedication and commitment to our cause,” said Sarah Brocklebank, chief executive of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care.

“We would like to thank everyone who came along, and we hope you had a brilliant time.”

The amount raised, £85,000, could cover the cost of Phyllis Tuckwell’s Hospice Care at Home (HCAH) team for nearly five weeks.

This team of nurses visit patients who have chosen to spend their last days, and to die, at home, instead of in hospital or at the hospice.
