THANKS to the generosity of a Four Marks man, Alder Valley Brass has a new timpani.
It was after Derek Creesey, a keen supporter of the band, heard they were collecting money to buy the new set of four drums that he kindly donated sufficient funds to make up the amount needed.
Derek visited the band room at the Connaught School in Aldershot early in September to see the timpani in action and said how pleased he was he had been able to help buy it.
The benefactor was also guest of honour at the Alder Valley Concert at The Holy Trinity Church, Aldershot, on September 26, where the band performed a 50-50 Charity Concert in aid of Armed Forces charity SSAFA and the new timpani drum was played for the first time.
Alder Valley Brass is currently seeking cornet and BBb bass players. Anyone interested should e-mail [email protected].
