ST Mary’s Church, Frensham will host a 12-hour musical marathon on Saturday, October 24, to raise funds towards the restoration of the church’s historic 15th century tower.

The musical extravaganza, taking place between 9am and 9pm, will involve many local bands, choirs and musicians with performances across numerous musical genres.

It will begin with bell ringing and culminate with ‘Hymns and Pimms’, and St Mary’s is encouraging people to put forward their favourite hymns to be sung on the night.

Entrance will cost £5 and visitors are welcome to stay as long they wish, dipping in and out during the day to experience as wide a performance selection as possible.

Lunches and refreshments will be provided together with a range of stalls including cakes from Millbridge WI, a tombola and book sale.

All proceeds from the event will go towards restoration of St Mary’s 600-year-old church tower that is in need of urgent remedial works to its exterior.

Eunice King, parish administrator, said: “We need to raise £30,000 to cover the cost of these urgent repairs to the wonderful 15th century tower.

“Obviously, the music marathon is a big fundraiser for this and the bell ringers have already organised two quizzes over the summer that have raised over £800.

“They are also selling jigsaws of St Mary’s that are extremely beautiful and difficult! They would make a great Christmas present. Jill on mck
