THE Music While you Munch series of free lunchtime organ recitals at St Andrew’s Parish Church will resume on Tuesday, August 9.

Starting at 1.10pm the organ recital lasts about 40 minutes and this month John Purver from Alresford returns with a programme of shorter pieces by JS Bach, T Salome, Flor Peeters, Alexandre Guilmant and Percy Whitlock’s Folk Tune.

Crown Imperial by William Walton and Toccata by Georgi Mushel completes an interesting programme to an ever growing and enthusiastic audience.

John is a freelance organist playing for services in churches and cathedrals. He accompanies the Wessex Chamber Choir and is on the staff of Amery Hill.

Light refreshments are available at the monthly organ recitals or you may wish to bring your own lunch. The retiring collection helps to support forthcoming recitals. Everyone is welcome.

Church life continues to be very busy at St Andrew’s with the parish fayre on September 10 during the Heritage Open Days weekend when the teddies parachute from the tower and the churchyard is filled with stalls.

At the end of November there is a new event planned called ‘Winterfest’, a celebration of arts craft and hobbies in the church. It will feature demonstrations, exhibitions and lots of craft activities and fun for children. Admission will be free.
