Northover's Vets Team star rider Leslie Allen took the women's prize, beating team-mate Pete Pickers by one second (23-23 and 23-24).

Of the other local riders, Rother Valley man John Hepper took 16th in 22-48, with Liphook Cycles' Dave Butters one place behind him in 22-54. Gary Gunner (24-30) also of Liphook Cycles, was sandwiched between 'a3crg' duo Paul Rowden (23-54) and Andy Phillip (24-52).

Reis Mitchell, the only other Rother Valley rider in the event, punctured when lining up for the start. After borrowing a wheel, he finished in 27-29.

Passfield's Justin Hoy has been taking part as a member of the Surrey League team in Ireland, riding the Irish Milk Board RAS Tour.

Hoy has had to put up with some bad weather and a few problems in the saddle area, but finished this major tour with a good place on the final day. Apart from Irish and Great Britain riders, Hoy was up against the national teams of Poland and Denmark.
