THE Petersfield man who made life hell for his neighbours by blasting out loud music in the middle of the night has been given a conditional discharge by Aldershot magistrates.

Next week he returns to court charged with causing damage after being arrested while smashing 16 double-glazed windows at his home.

Twenty-six-year-old Justin Lee, of Cranford Road, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the abatement notice served on him on May 31, when he appeared at Aldershot on Tuesday.

In addition to being prosecuted, Lee has lost two sets of sound equipment which were seized by East Hampshire District Council.

After the case on Tuesday environmental protection manager for EHDC, Patricia Hughes, told The Herald: ÔIf Mr Lee reoffends, not only will he be prosecuted but he may be committed to prison for breaching the injunction which remains in force against himÓ.

But Lee will be back on court next Thursday after being arrested for damaging 16 double-glazed windows at his Drum Housing home on Sunday.

He was charged by police and bailed to appear again next week before Aldershot magistrates.

Lee had two sets of stereo equipment seized in just three weeks after he told his landlords he would continue to Ògive lots of noiseÓ earlier this summer.

Police were first called to his home in the early hours of May 18 when the sound of music was blaring across the street despite the fact that all his windows were closed.

EHDC issued a noise abatement order on May 31 telling Lee to curb his noise, but neighbours continued to complain.

On June 27, following an order from Aldershot magistrates, his stereo equipment was seized.

But the neighbour from hell continued to create so much noise that neighbours were forced to complain yet again, and 21 days after EHDC had seized his stereo council officers returned to take more stereo equipment.

A council spokesperson said: ÒDespite having two sets of noise-making equipment seized Mr Lee continued to breach the order and confirmed to a housing officer at Drum Housing Association, of which he is a tenant, that he would continue to give Òlots of noiseÓ.
