TRAFFIC was disrupted twice this week after faults caused prolonged closures of the Farnham station level crossing.

A signalling fault at around 9am last Friday followed by a problem with the barriers themselves at around 1pm on Tuesday forced traffic to divert via Firgrove Hill and vulnerable pedestrians, including the disabled and parents with push-chairs, to attempt tricky crossings of the station footbridge.

Owen Johns, a spokesperson for Network Rail, said: “We have unfortunately experienced a couple of faults in the last week that have caused issues at Farnham level crossing.

“Our engineers were out in both instances and fixed the faults as quickly as possible, and I’d like to thank everyone for their patience during the delays.”
