SOUTH Farnham School has presented certificates to its latest cohort of classroom assistants after passing their QCF qualifications.

Following a process of internal and external verification, all candidates were presented with their certificates at a celebration event on Thursday, March 15.

As a registered City & Guild’s Centre, South Farnham delivers the QCF Level 3 certificate in ‘Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools’ for classroom assistants and the Level 3 certificate in ‘Assessing Vocational Achievement’ for senior staff involved in assessing adult learners.

Both are delivered through tutorials and workshops, covering all 11 units (the equivalence of 32 credits) through a teaching period of 180 learning hours over nine months. The sessions are held at South Farnham on Wednesday afternoons throughout the year.

Each candidate has an assessor who guides them through the course and meets with their candidates for one-to-one sessions interspersed among the more formal tutorials. Candidates compile a portfolio of paper-based evidence against all of the criteria for each of the units and are observed in their working environment by their assessor.
