BADSHOT Lea Village Infant School unveiled a new award in memory of community stalwart Mike Probert at its end of year service on Friday, July 21.

The award mirrors Mike’s values and was presented to pupil Amalie Onions by Mike’s son Adrian, accompanied by his wife Jean and daughter Alison, as a “recognition of the school’s ethos, values and citizenship”.

Headmistress Gemma Ball explained it was presented to honour Mike, who gained a large reputation as a dependable community member and supporter for some six decades before his death in January.

He was highly commended for his role within the local community, establishing The Kiln community centre in St Georges Road and helping the neglected building “get back to life”.

Mike was celebrated for having previously served as governor of Badshot Lea Village Infant School including 12 years as chairman, a warden at St Georges’s Church, an independent Farnham town councillor and chairman of the Badshot Lea Community Association.
