A BOOK celebrating the magic and wonder of libraries was launched at Waterstones Farnham last month.

The event saw debuting author Alison Donald publish her picture book The New LiBEARian.

A charming and funny story, it follows Dee and her friends’ quest to find their missing librarian so that story time can begin.

The event included a reading and a book signing as well as crafts and games to make it “a truly special event for little book lovers”.

With library numbers dwindling, Alison is hoping the book will encourage parents and children to support their local libraries.

She said: “The book launch went really well! The kids seemed to enjoy story time, treasure hunt, colouring and craft. My husband was there helping in the background and my five year old, three year old and six month old were part of the audience.  Having my family there made the event even more special.”

Alison’s second book, The Pirates in Classroom Three will be out in 2017.
