TWO Haslemere conservative councillors were elected to the executive committee of the council at the annual meeting of Waverley Borough Council on Tuesday. Carole King (Critchmere & Shottermill) and Robert Knowles (Haslemere East & Grayswood) who were elected to the council in the conservative landslide in May 2007 had been nominated by the ruling conservative group following a ballot. Other new members of the executive are Denise Le Gal, (Farnham Bourne) Bryn Morgan (Elstead & Thursley) who were also elected in 2007, and Carole Cockburn (Farnham Bourne) who has been a member of the Council since June 2001. Richard Gates (Bramley, Busbridge and Hascombe) continues as leader of the council, whilst Mike Band (Shamley Green) becomes deputy leader, replacing Pat Frost, who has stood down to become deputy mayor. Also continuing on the executive are John Sandy (Milford), Roger Steel (Farnham Moor Park) and Adam Taylor-Smith (Witley & Hambledon). Robert Knowles said "I am pleased that our colleagues supported two members from Haslemere to serve on the executive committee and look forward to working with colleagues from throughout the borough."
