FIREWORKS and a gathering of old and new friends marked the opening of a new building at Bordon Infant School.
A crowd, including former teachers and pupils, gathered at the school, in Budds Lane, for the official opening of the building last Thursday, November 20.
Deputy headteacher Matthew Greenhalgh said: "We are incredibly pleased with the new building and couldn't wait to show it off to the wider community.
"The fact that the children have a smart environment in which to work means that they look forward to coming in each day and producing some brilliant work.
"They have a space they can be proud of now, and I think we're all incredibly pleased with the new build.
"Previously, the classrooms in the building were open plan, which at times made creating the right atmosphere for the children a little hard.
"We sometimes have lessons that can be quite loud, but we also need quiet, reflective time and that posed quite a problem for us.
"We now have separate classrooms, meaning that the school is a quieter, calmer environment and that's conducive to the children's learning.
"The opening went really, really well.
"There was a really nice atmosphere about the school and it was great to see so many people there.
"We had former pupils, who are now attending Mill Chase Community Technology College, giving people a guided tour of the school - it was a very special occasion."
The building contains a new cooking area.
This area includes purpose-built sinks and work stations that are suitable for both adults and children to use.
The area will be used as part of the school's recently launched breakfast and after-school clubs.
