PEOPLE who work with the public every day are being offered the chance to learn more about promoting wellbeing at a workshop in Farnham on Thursday, April 28.
The workshop - run by First Steps, the mental health promotion service commissioned by Surrey County Council - is aimed at health and social care workers, taxi drivers, bar staff, hair dressers and other residents and professionals.
It will help them understand what makes people happier, and how that can lead to a healthier, more fulfilling life and a greater sense of well-being.
First Steps’ ‘Wheel of Well-being’ campaign also includes a separate series of workshops for other members of the public, covering six areas – body, mind, spirit, people, place and planet.
Jemma Millman, occupational therapist for First Steps, said: “Work is the source of a lot of people’s well-being issues so we’ve put together this campaign to teach the things that are important as well as offer simple ideas to boost their health and well-being.
“Good well-being is central to a person’s health, happiness and function on both a personal and social level.
“By providing professionals with the skills they need to manage and support their clients to improve their overall wellness too, is an important step to improving the wellbeing of the Surrey population.”
The first workshop will take place on Thursday, April 28, from 9.30am to 12.30pm at Farnham Hospital, Hale Road, Farnham, Surrey GU9 9QL. Booking is required, by emailing [email protected]/.
