IN bright, sunny weather with perfect conditions for golf, the captain’s drive-in ceremony was held at Blackmoor Golf Club, with newly-elected captain David Frost hitting a 200-yard drive down the fairway.
This distance was correctly guessed, at the ceremony on October 15, by Andy Mathew in the drive-in sweep which raised money for The Rosemary Foundation Hospice at Home in Petersfield.
Blackmoor’s previous captain Chris Ingram, during his year of office, raised £9,000 for the foundation, which is also the chosen charity of the new captain at the golf club in Firgrove Road, Whitehill. Alison Price received the cheque on behalf of The Rosemary Foundation.
Re-appointed president Derek Williams OBE, past captains and many fellow members were at the drive-in along with new ladies’ captain Susie Cave, senior captain Norman Foster and junior captain Alex Tipper.
