ST Martin’s Hall just off The Bourne Green has just taken another step forward with the opening of a new £40,000 extension.
On Saturday, a small informal opening was performed by councillor Carole Cockburn to commission the new extension that the St Martin’s Hall Community Trust has had built on the back end of the structure.
This provides invaluable storage space to be used both by the trust - for tables, chairs, consumables etc, in order for them to be more easily accessed by hirers - but mainly by the regular tenant Woodlands Nursery for all its school equipment and furniture.
For the hall this represents a huge proportionate increase in space and usability, since nursery equipment previously stored within the volume of the hall itself can now be tucked away out of sight.
This in itself frees up some 250 square feet extra floorspace and hugely increases the hall’s seated-accommodation capacity.
The extension work was carried out by Oaklands Construction, responsible for much of the building work at South Farnham School in recent years.
