THE new year brings fresh hope for the resumption of normal aquatic life along the River Wey between Alton and Farnham - the stretch devastated by an ammonia leakage on the Mill Lane industrial estate in March.

Workers from the Environment Agency and members of the Bentley Fly Fishers' Association this week revealed their ingenious scheme through which it is hoped young brown trout will soon be thriving in the river waters again.
