A PERSONAL letter from Tony Blair, stating that he has asked Department of Health officials to set up a meeting to discuss the future of Treloars, could be the lifeline campaigners are looking for in the bid to save Alton's once-famous hospital.

But, after many months of silence from No.10, members of the Treloar Hospital Project, remain cautious. They will not treat it as a major break-through until a time, place and agenda have been agreed.
