IN the last two years the co-operation between Farnham Sixth Form College and the Old Farnhamians’ Association has resulted in a number of highly successful events, which have been well supported by townsfolk.

In 2015 people filled the performance hall at the college to listen to Dr Sophie Ambler, an expert on the subject, give an excellent talk on the Magna Carta Project.

In June 2016 they supported a garden party to celebrate the 90th birthday of the Queen, which attracted 150 people who enjoyed a sunny afternoon on the lawns of the college.

More recently, Dickie Arbiter, long term private secretary to the Queen, gave a first class lecture on the British monarchy, and the audience again listened to an expert on his subject.

To commemorate these events, plus a new show for 2017, the director of the college, Dr Jason Jones, was presented with a specially made display of the various programmes of the events so far.

The new show is entitled, Jazz & Comedy at the College, and will take place at the college on Saturday, April 1. The show will feature the popular show band, Otis B. Driftwood, ladies A Capella Group, Quintessential, Nick Ridley with comic songs and Tegan Creedy, former student at the college and a well-known local singer.

It is also planned to have some input from student volunteers. It promises to be a fun evening, with a great atmosphere and a bar, although people can also bring their own drinks.

Tickets are now available at £8 each from the college by calling 01252 716988 – it is hoped that another combined event will take place later in the year.
