A NEW doctors' surgery for Liss has got the go-ahead.

Dr Egerton and Dr Dawson applied for planning permission to demolish the existing Riverside Close Surgery at 75 Station Road and build a new one. East Hampshire district planners have granted permission.

Among the conditions imposed for the new development are the requirement for high-quality facing materials in the construction of the surgery to enhance the environment of Liss.

All trees and shrubs on the site have to be protected during the building work and a new hedge is to be planted along the front boundary. There is also a requirement for ten parking spaces.

Dr Dawson told The Herald that the purpose-built early 60s surgery had served the practice well but general practice had changed.

They now needed a building to accommodate a modern general practice allowing them to offer more to their patients.
